Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - S1E3 - "A Thing About Rats"

"A Thing About Rats"
Original Airdate: 12/16/1987

Synopsis:

As they return to the sewer lair following the events of the previous episode, the Turtles & April lay Splinter down to rest and recover following his kidnapping by the Shredder.  As the Turtles head out to find the Technodrome, they ask April to stay and watch over Splinter.

Next we see the Technodrome once again blasting it's way under the streets of the city.  A huge drill-like vessel snakes it's way along the underground and arrives into an abandon mansion somewhere in the city.  Shredder emerges from the vehicle carrying a package of some sort which contains a radio transmitter that sends out a whole swarm of mechanical bugs throughout the city.

Next we are taken to a laboratory where Baxter Stockman is showing off his brand new mouser invention to a potential client.  He sets the rat loose into the maze after cheese, and using a controller, sets his mouser on the trail after it.  The mouse gets to the cheese, and evades the Mouser, only for the machine to begin chewing it's way through the walls of the maze, before capturing the mouse.

Back in the abandon mansion, Shredder watches Stockman's presentation on his radio transmitter.  He shows interest as the potential client denounces Stockman's idea, and kicks him out.

Back in the sewers, the Turtles show frustration in their lack of ability to find the Technodrome.

Back in the mansion, Stockman shows disgust at the condition of the house not being what he expected.  As Shredder assures him that this is merely a temporary hideout, Bebop and Rocksteady make their way into the house with mechanical parts for Baxter to begin mass producing the Mousers.  Shredder reassures Baxter on the future success of his invention as he and the henchmen travel back down to the Technodrome.

Meanwhile, the Turtles continue to scavenge the sewers and check out a doorway that leads to a train track.  Michaelangelo saves Raphael from getting smashed, and knocks him off the ladder to the ground below.

Back in the Technodrome, Shredder continues to monitor Stockman's progress, as Krang summons him for an update.  Krang shows his dismay at Shredder's new reason for delaying construction of a body for him.  Shredder asserts that this is his battle to fight, and that he doesn't need Krang's help.  Krang wishes him failure yet again, and hopes that Shredder comes to the conclusion that he must utilize Krang's help to defeat Splinter & the Turtles.

Shredder makes his way to a conveyor belt that is mass producing the Mousers.  He conveys his satisfaction at the speed of assembly while insult Bebop & Rocksteady's lack of competence.  He makes the decision to begin using the Mousers before they have even been finished.  He inputs commands to seek out Hamato Yoshi (Splinter) and destroy him.  The Mousers begin marching away as he lets out an evil cackle.

Back in the sewers, the Turtles continue walking along, when a pipe cracks and breaks under Raphael and he hangs on while waiting for his brothers to pull him back up.

In the sewer den, Splinter wakes up, and April tends to him.  After making sure he is ok, she begins to leave to return to her apartment, and make sure she is still employed.  Splinter tells her that he hopes they have not caused her too much trouble, and bids her farewell, before sitting down to begin meditating.  Just prior to beginning, the Mousers chew through the walls, and surround Splinter as he attempts to ward them off with his walking staff.  The Turtles show up, and clean house on the Mousers.  Donatello picks up one of the broken pieces, and discover's Baxter Stockman's company signature on the bottom of the machine.  They talk with Splinter about getting with April to find out who he is, and how they can stop him.

In the mansion, Shredder notices that all of his initial Mousers are non-functional, and have been destroyed. He decides to release all the Mousers to take out the Turtles.

Back at her apartment, April comes out the shower, and attempts to readjust to normal life, before answering the door and seeing the Turtles arrive at her door.  The inform her about Baxter Stockman and ask her to research information on him.  She allows Splinter to rest in her room.  The Turtles begin exploring her apartment to her annoyance.  She finds the information on Stockman, as her boss Verne calls and informs her that she is due for the broadcast that day in several minutes.  She prints out a picture with information on Baxter, and comes out into her apartment, only to find the Turtles have managed to make it messy in a very short period of time.

Back in the mansion, Stockman declares that he is finished and announces his intentions to leave as he has reached the point of exhaustion.  After an exchange with Shredder, he is granted the opportunity to leave, and heads out for the night.  Shredder informs several Foot Soldiers that Baxter knows too much, and needs to be taken out.  The Foot begin following Stockman.

Out on the streets, the Turtles begin the search for Baxter.

Shredder unleashes the Mousers on the city, and programs them to seek out and destroy Splinter and the Turtles.

As Baxter arrives at home, he realizes that the Foot Soldiers are following him.  The Turtles arrive, and take out the Foot before they can harm Baxter.  The Turtles tie him up, steal his Mouser controller, and begin interrogating him about the Mousers and their whereabouts.  Stockman declares that he will never talk.  Raphael enlightens him, and he spills the beans. The Turtles head out, and take Baxter's van to head out and find the Shredder.  They immediately realize that as the Mousers seek out Splinter, they will be led to April's apartment putting them both in great danger.

Back in the apartment, April finishes cleaning up the apartment from the mess the Turtles made, when suddenly the Mousers begin attacking.  She revives Splinter, and they arm themselves in an attempt to ward off the Mousers.  Just before they are overwhelmed, the Turtles show up and defeat all of the Mousers.  They then head out with Splinter & April in tow to find the Shredder, and foil his scheme.

Outside the mansion, they plot their attack on the abandon house.  Michaelangelo volunteers to go inside, and find the master controller.  After making his way through the house vents, he ends up walking right into a trap set up by Shredder.  He is held hostage by a laser gun.  He then ties Michaelangelo up, and watches the party outside, before setting his Mousers up to attack them outside.

Michaelangelo struggles in an attempt to untie himself, when he gets an unexpected assist from Krang who wants to see Shredder fail again.  He informs Michaelangelo of the location of the master controller as the Mousers begin closing in on the heroes outside.  Mikey shows his doubts about trusting him, but Krang asserts that there is no time to argue, and that he must stop it if he wants to save everyone outside.

As Michaelangelo makes his way into the room, Shredder begins firing at him with the laser gun.  Mikey begins taunting him about his marksmanship, and eventually leads Shredder to inadvertently destroying his own controller.  Showing his anger, he begins firing wildly as Mikey escapes the room.

With their command no longer transmitting, the Mousers cease to function, and Donatello programs a new command into the remote controller.  He orders all the Mousers back into the house as Shredder narrowly escapes back to the Technodrome.

As the house goes down in an explosion, Mikey is still missing, and the heroes begin a frantic search for him.  After finding him safe and sound, the Turtles begin the drive back home while Michaelangelo tells them the story of Krang saving him, and the Turtles laugh and mock the truthfulness of his story.  They decide to keep Baxter's van and convert it into a Turtle van.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - S1E2 - "Enter The Shredder"

"Enter The Shredder"
Original Airdate: 12/15/1987

Synopsis:

Following the events of the first episode, we start off in the Turtles' sewer lair where April begins waking up all of the turtles.  The foursome do some training before starting their day.

During the training, Michelangelo loses his patience, and is defeated by Leonardo, much to the dismay of the others.

During breakfast, the turtles decide which kinds of cereal they want, and Splinter offers sushi, as April explains how they need to get out and start searching for what caused the events of the previous night.

As April and the Turtles begin scavenging the sewers, they notice unusual things such as water leaking down from the building that no longer exists, as well as a large carved out hole underground.  April wants to continue, but the Turtles caution that they better inform Splinter first.

Next we see the Technodrome trailblazing a path under the earth with a laser beam.  Shredder is muttering to himself about the retreat the night before being summoned by Krang.

When we first meet Krang, he is a brain sitting in a laboratory by himself.  He torments Shredder by calling him by his real name "Saki".  He requests a body to become more mobile.  Shredder goes on to say how he does not trust Krang, but needs his help in order to help defeat the Turtles.  Krang suggests mutating stronger beings, to which Shredder decides to test this on his own gang members.  He leaves laughing while acknowledging Krang's "brain".

Back in the sewer, the Turtles & April discuss their findings with Splinter.  The rat explains that they must proceed with caution as Orku Saki is the most dangerous man he knows.  April heads up to the surface to see if the newsroom has any footage on where the Technodrome could be.

Splinter and the Turtles being to run through the sewers in pursuit of the Technodrome.

Meanwhile, at the city zoo, a citizen and his dog are relaxing while reading the news when 2 robots appear, and melt the bars of the rhino and warthog cages.  They then tie up the beasts, and though struggling at first, eventually overcome them to drag them below the surface of the earth to the Technodrome.

Back in the sewers, the Turtles and Splinter continue hiking through the newly formed canyons in pursuit of the armored fortress.  They encounter rocks blocking the path, to which Splinter leads the effort to burrow through.

In the Technodrome, Shredder meets with the gang members to determine who will be experimented on.  At first he is met with resistance, until he explains that the 2 chosen will have the opportunity to get even with the Turtles.  Suddenly all of the gang members rush the door to be chosen.

In a laboratory room, Bebop and Rocksteady are taken to 2 chairs where they are strapped in against their will.  Shredder enters wearing a hazmat suit as the Rhino and Warthog are drug in by the machines.  We fade back to the sewers just before the mutation.

As the Turtles climb to the surface, they come out in the middle of a busy street.  Once out of traffic, they discover a pizza shop offering Jumbo pizza right next to Channel 6 News.

At Channel 6 News, April meets with her boss to discuss her whereabouts the past few days.  April explains how she is on to something big, while her boss forgives her absence with a new story about the zoo robbery.  As she leaves Channel 6, she sees the Turtles dressed as a street gang.  She explains what happened in the zoo, and they head over to investigate.

Back underground, Splinter discovers the Technodrome, and is quickly overcome by the robots.

At the zoo, the Turtles jump into the hole cut by the robots, and have April remain at the surface.

Once underground, the Turtles discover Splinter's walking stick outside the Technodrome, and are invited inside by the Shredder.

Back at the zoo, April places a call to Channel 6 requesting a camera crew, but is denied until she confirms to have a story.

In the Technodrome, the Turtles first encounter walls caving in, before busting the control panel, and Donatello hot-wiring the door.  Next the 2 robots attack the turtles, and are disabled before being thrown through a seemingly bottomless pit.  Once inside the next room, they are engaged by several deadly machines.  The ensuing battle features the Turtles taking out the machines.  After defeating the machines, they are cut off by a spiked roller that attempts to smash them.  The detonate a bomb to narrowly escape, and find themselves inside a room with the Shredder and Splinter, with the latter being suspended high above the room.

Shredder explains to the Turtles that he is responsible for the Turtles' mutation.  As the Turtles express their doubts, Shredder unleashes Bebop and Rocksteady in their mutated forms.  The Turtles make quick work of them and several Foot Soldiers, before cutting Splinter down, and escaping the Technodrome.

April races back to the zoo as the Turtles & Splinter arrive back on the surface.  As they get Splinter to a bench to rest, Bebop and Rocksteady resurface with laser guns and military gear.  The Turtles quickly disarm the twosome, and trick them into giving chase before running into an animal cage.  Once inside, the Turtles escape out the back, and lock down the cage while mocking the two henchmen's intelligence.

As April records footage of the two in the cage, Bebop and Rocksteady shout threatening insults her way.  April then leaves with the Turtles & Splinter.

Later that night, the robots arrive back at the zoo to break Bebop and Rocksteady while explaining that Shredder wants to have a little chat with them.  The henchmen ask if there is any way to stay locked up in the zoo before being drug underground and back to the Technodrome.
